How I taught Basket ball dribbling and shooting

Addu had proprioception issues and he was flapping his hands continuously. So I thought of doing some activities to ensure that his needs are addressed in a meaningful way.
Step1:Teaching dribbling
At that stage, Addu was not able to dribble continuously for even a second. I had to stand behind him and guide him to focus and do. We started inside the house on the mat and then I took him to the apartment's basement for dribbling. Initially he was not running behind the ball and I used to give continuous prompts. We did it consistently and he started improving slowly.

Step 2: Shooting
We bought a basketball set from Decathlon and fixed it on the window. Initially I chose the height according to his comfort level. Also I counted 1 to 10 and asked  him to catch the ball and then shoot. You  can see it in this video.

Also I  did it as a structured activity to help him understand the beginning and end of each activity and to make him independent. This is depicted in the video.

Step3: Increased the height of the basket  to push him to the next level. In his daily schedule, during basketball ball time we  were practicing it. Also we kept increasing the distance between the basket and Addu. I kept a mat for him to stand on while dribbling and shooting. When he achieved that we again increased the height and made him completely independent. Also for generalising that skill, we took him to the basketball court in Kanteerava Stadium and  Decathlon and other places.

Step 4:started using Roller skates during basketball. So with Roller skates he was dribbling and shooting independently by following his schedule. This is what can be seen  in this video.
