Sharing my experience during vacation in Goa

After 2 years when we planned a holiday trip to Goa I prepared a PPT to give Addu a clear idea about the air travel. From the last 4 months, there is a helmet with him that he bought for him and is always keeping next to him. At night also he is keeping that helmet on his bed. We realised that, he likes the texture of that helmet and that is helps him to reduce his anxiety. But during air travel it will be difficult for us to carry that helmet, so we decided to leave it at home. Monday early morning Addu got up and got ready and he was sitting with the helmet. We told him that we will keep the helmet here but he was not ready to leave it. While seeing his anxious face I thought of letting him carry his helmet. Then he was ready to enter into the cab. We reached in airport and airport was too crowded, but Addu was fine. He was standing in the queue for security check and then they asked why he is carrying that. When we informed that Addu is a special child, they agreed to take the helmet. Then Addu became very happy and comfortable. While boaring indigo, they let us to enter first and gave us a warm welcome. So we reached happily in Goa and he kept his helmet in his room. This time Addu and Aadi were in a different room and he was completely fine with that. When we were going out for sight seeing he was ready to keep helmet in his room. When we were packing to go back he took his helmet😄. In Goa airport also there was no problem regarding that. In both ways people were looking with surprised face while seeing Addu carrying a big helmet with him. But we were very comfortable and happy. By seeing us happy and accepting him the way how he is , other people also accepted that. Then my elder son was saying "THE WORLD IS MORE ACCEPTING OF PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS".

Actually acceptance starts with us and if we are happy for what they are, if we are understanding and respect our children's needs, society will also be ready to accept it. We enjoyed a lot during this vacation. Addu and Aadi were very happy. Our children enjoy all these trips, for that we have to plan and prepare them. We are waiting eagerly for our next holidays🤩
